The First Week of Summer

DAY 1:

expedition

new car

Monday, June 2, 2014 – the first day of summer vacation.

Today, we traded in my loyal 2001, Ford Expedition for a beautiful Nissan Pathfinder.  We bought the Expedition when I was pregnant with my first baby 12 1/2 years ago!  243,000 miles later, and recently lots of repairs, it was time to upgrade.  My Expedition brought my oldest daughter home from the hospital and then my twins 3 1/2 years later.  Thank you, Big Blue, for keeping my family safe all these years.  I was blessed with your reliability. You will be missed! The blessings continue with a new car for this next phase of life.

Day 2:

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 – the second day of summer vacation.

What a great way to spend the second day of summer vacation, camping at the Santa Cruz coast! I love watching my kids warm their hands with friends over the fire. Life is good!!

Day 3:

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 – the third day of summer vacation.

It’s a wonderfully foggy day at the beach. My favorite kind of beach day! My kids and their friends are enjoying their time together. So relaxing!! I love this kind of vacation!

Day 4:

Thursday, June 5, 2014 – the fourth day of summer vacation.

We came home from camping to warmer weather. It was foggy and a cool 60 degrees when we left the campsite. We arrived home to a sunny 84! This view is from my deck at 7:40 in the evening. I loved camping with my family but I love being home with them as well. Tonight I’m going to do lots of laundry, repack and head off to family camp tomorrow! The fun will continue!

Day 5:

Friday, June 6, 2014 – the fifth day of summer vacation.

Our annual trip to family camp has finally arrived! We wait all year for this super fun weekend! The school my kids attend plan this fun getaway as a way to build community amongst the elementary families. The two night camp is held in the beautiful redwood trees in the Santa Cruz mountains. Such a fabulous location!!

Day 6:

Saturday, June 7, 2014 – the sixth day of summer vacation.

The pool was open from 2-4:30 today at family camp. Many families had fun hanging out and swimming together. We enjoyed a fun day of building community amongst families who have been part of our school for awhile and some who are new. Already sad that camp ends tomorrow. It is such a great time!!

Day 7:

Sunday, June 8, 2014 – the seventh and final day of the first week of summer vacation.

Saying goodbye to family camp is always sad. We look forward to it all year and then it’s over before we know it. We love being with so many wonderful friends that we consider family. It’s a great way to end the the first week of summer vacation. Goodbye till next year Redwood Christian Camp!

Welcome to my blog! I am a passionate educator who loves teaching children the joy of learning. While working toward my degree in education, I worked as a preschool teacher, where I learned the importance of patience and caring when teaching children. Once I graduated with a degree in special ed, I then continued my career in education working as a 1st grade teacher for 12 years. Most recently I returned to the early childhood education realm, as director of a preschool and infant center. Now, my journey has led me back to the first grade classroom. In preparation, I am working on receiving my master's degree in education.
